Beauty & Truth – Global Thinking Routine

FIRST, view the three images in the “Beauty & Truth” folder on Blackboard in this module. The three images are labeled “Images for Beauty & Truth.” After viewing the three images, return to this document

SECOND, Engage in this global thinking routine – Beauty & Truth

Think about these questions:

Respond here:

Yes! All three images have beauty in them. The second and third show joy—which is easy to perceive as beauty. The first one looks like families hoping to find a better life, and that is always a beautiful thing to me.

Lived lives are always truth, right? There is nothing inauthentic here, and children especially will always find joy in the midst of tougher macro challenges.

Now, please view the videos on Blackboard in the “Beauty & Truth” folder.

THIRD, respond to these questions:

Respond here:

After watching the videos, beauty can certainly conceal truth. Happy faces and people enjoying themselves might conceal a (on paper) low quality of life, e.g. little green spaces in the Syrian refugee camp, hunger situations, or a person can conceal hidden pain, both emotional and physical.

A bit of a paradox, I reckon, but the same beauty can reveal truth, such as living a beautiful life despite situations that may be beyond our control, finding the best in the every day. There are shades of both of these in each video of the refugees.

FINALLY, Please save your document as: LAST NAME Beauty & Truth and upload it as an attachment to the Discussion Board link for that purpose.

Thank you for engaging in this Global Thinking Routine!
